Steve Papier, one of this year's Amy J. Blue Award winners, has maintained support systems for campus buildings for 44 years. Now the supervisor of engineering trades on campus, Papier draws his leadership style from his experiences with Blue herself.

A new study by Stanford psychologist Paul O'Keefe suggests that the way we design our working and learning environments can change people's motivation for achieving important tasks. An environment of learning for learning's sake can have long-term effects on goals.

Stanford's 2011 health report card shows improvement

High participation levels in the BeWell program and above-average attention to exercise, improved eating patterns and reduced smoking distinguish the Stanford community, according to the program's annual health report card.
