Researchers show a better way to curb TB in prisons

Genetic testing is the best and most cost-effective way to screen prisoners for tuberculosis and drug-resistant strains of the disease, according to a Stanford study. And using the test on prisoners in the former Soviet Union will curtail the spread of the disease, the authors say.

Earlier this month, Stanford inaugurated its newest campus mural, The Spiral Word: El Codex Estánfor, at El Centro Chicano. The mural was designed and created by Berkeley-based international muralist Juana Alicia.
