Nobel laureate has a passion for science, cinnamon toast

Nobel chemist Brian Kobilka grew up the shy son of a baker in a tiny Midwestern town. He developed a love for scientific research while at Yale School of Medicine. "He doesn't like the limelight," said his wife, Tong Sun Kobilka, left, a practicing physician and research scientist.

Election 2012 course engages broad range of students

As Election Day approaches, thousands of Stanford students and members of the local community and beyond are keeping track of the issues. Undergrads are taking PoliSci 51K, Continuing Studies students Pol 51, while others participate in Election 2012 for free on Stanford on iTunesU.

  • Faculty Senate meets today: In its first meeting of fall quarter, the Faculty Senate will hear a five-member panel discuss units of credit required for different majors. The discussion, which is limited to members of the Senate, will take place at 3:15 p.m. in the Law School. For more about the agenda, read the full announcement.
