Stanford researchers have transformed a remote corner of southern Africa into a high-tech field camp run entirely on sunlight. The solar-powered camp provides a rare opportunity to quietly observe wild elephants at a waterhole.

Four members of the School of Medicine faculty have been elected to the Institute of Medicine, including Lloyd Minor, who joined Stanford Sept. 1 and will become the new Medical School dean on Dec. 1.

Common Google apps, such as Google Drive, are now available using your Stanford identity. However, the agreement to use Google email and calendar only covers undergraduates, not faculty and staff.
