Stanford researchers have transformed a remote corner of southern Africa into a high-tech field camp run entirely on sunlight. The solar-powered camp provides a rare opportunity to quietly observe wild elephants at a waterhole.

Four members of the School of Medicine faculty have been elected to the Institute of Medicine, including Lloyd Minor, who joined Stanford Sept. 1 and will become the new Medical School dean on Dec. 1.
