Campus honors life of  late President Richard Lyman

During a service Tuesday afternoon, the campus community celebrated the life and contributions of Stanford's seventh president, Richard W. Lyman, who died in May. Robert Gregg, a longtime friend of Lyman and former dean of Memorial Church, left, presided over the service.

For elephants, conversation is key to group cooperation

A new study by Stanford biologist Caitlin O'Connell-Rodwell documents how elephants in Africa use "rumbles" in a structured way to transmit signals longer distances both through the air and through ground vibrations.
