Class2Go offers courses on open-source platform

The newest member of the family of platforms hosting online university courses was formally presented in society last week. Its name is Class2Go, and its proud parents are a team of eight engineers at the Computer Science Department, including undergraduate Kelvin Do, left.

Urstein named new head of  undergrad advising, research

Robert "Rob" Urstein, who has served as assistant dean for the doctoral program at the Business School since 2004, has been named associate vice provost, director of undergraduate advising and research, and dean of freshmen.

Gene Franklin, pioneer in automatic control, dies

Gene F. Franklin, professor emeritus of electrical engineering, died unexpectedly on Aug. 9. He was renowned as a pioneer in automatic control, a field that greatly improved the accuracy and capability of electronic control of machinery, from automobiles to computer disk drives.
