Giving Tuesday, Stanford style
Giving Tuesday is a global effort to encourage individuals and groups to commit acts of kindness. Observed on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, some view it as an antidote to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Here at Stanford, where philanthropy and public service have been part of the fabric since the university’s beginnings, members of the campus community are encouraged to do their part, then post “unselfies” on social media explaining why they support the causes they have given their time, money or other donations to. Use the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #Stanford.
Also, students will be on White Plaza at noon Tuesday, Dec. 1. to celebrate the day. For more information, visit Stanford’s Giving Tuesday page.
