The following are Hillel's ongoing social and cultural programming. To get involved, please contact the amazing people running these programs. If you have questions or need more information, please contact Serena Eisenberg at serenae1@stanford.edu.
FYSH: FYSH stands for First Year Students of Hillel. For programs designed for frosh – from fun field trips to the Jewish “Sibs” program – contact Ashley Jowell ajowell@stanford.edu or Michaela Elias at melias@stanford.edu.
JuMP: JuMP stands for Joy, Meaning, and Purpose. This project has two parts. The first part is a program series that includes separate programs for frosh, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, based on the unique needs of each class. The second part is up to you – If you are seeking individual mentorship or leadership training, if you are encountering a transition or a challenging learning experience, if you are looking for a one-on-one coffee date or you want to attend a program that will help you JuMP through your Stanford experience, contact Serena Eisenberg at serenae1@stanford.edu.
Ask Big Question Fellowship: Ask Big Questions brings diverse college students together for conversations that help people understand themselves and others. These conversations create community and spark action. ABQ Fellows will learn how to facilitate conversations about life’s big questions and will lead these discussions with other campus faith and cultural centers. Contact Serena Eisenberg at serenae1@stanford.edu.
Concerts and Speakers: Hillel at Stanford loves to bring musicians and speakers to the Jewish community. Examples include Mayim Bialik, renowned star of Big Bang Theory and Blossom, and an upcoming concert performance by Tafillalt. If you have a Jewish artist or speaker you’d like to see at Hillel, contact Serena Eisenberg at serenae1@stanford.edu.
My Search for Meaning: The My Search for Meaning Series presents a great opportunity for students to interact with Stanford faculty with a connection to Judaism. Faculty who wish to share their reflections and insights with students are invited to join the Hillel community for small lunch gatherings at Hillel where they have the chance to share their thoughts about life and meaning. Featured faculty at these events range from artistic scholars such as Professor Mark Applebaum to renowned scientists such as Professor Robert Sapolsky. MsM gatherings offer an intellectually stimulating and enriching experience, a rare opportunity to interact with faculty outside the classroom, and a chance to reflect and learn from teachers with a connection to Hillel on the Farm. Hillel Art Gallery: Hillel at Stanford is seeking an enthusiastic student to help us envision and manage our art gallery space. We would like to display student art throughout the year. If this is something you’re passionate about, contact Serena Eisenberg at serenae1@stanford.edu.
