The program is designed to be completed in 5 years. There are two years of coursework followed by an anticipated 3 years to complete the doctoral research project.

Stanford graduates follow the same application procedures as other applicants, including requesting that transcripts be sent to the department or program to which one is applying (you may do so on Axess through the Student Services Center.)

The application fee is not refundable.

The SCBRM program provides stipend and tuition for up to 3 years, after which stipend and tuition support are provided by the student’s primary mentor. Independent fellowships are encouraged. The Program also includes training in how to prepare and submit grant applications and many students successfully acquire independent funding.

Yes, all students, both inside and outside the US, are eligible.

You are only required to take the GRE General test. You are not required to take the subject test. There are no minimum score requirements.

MCAT scores will be accepted in place of GRE scores.

All students are required to complete the core curriculum but may petition the SCBRM program to substitute course work to meet career goals. Decisions will be made on an individual basis.

There are approximately two years of course work and the student begins lab research rotations in the first quarter of the program. After the second year, the student's activity is primarily lab research. Students may take additional elective courses at any time during their training program.
