1) Apply online for 2014-15 parking permits

New permits are required on Sept. 1; order online to avoid long lines

It’s time to apply for 2014-15 parking permits. Current parking permits expire on Aug. 31. Permit holders need to display new parking permits as of Sept. 1, 2014 (2014-15 permit rates).

Before you purchase a parking permit, consider joining the Commute Club:

If you need to purchase a parking permit, avoid a trip to our office and the long lines associated with the new academic year. Order online by Friday, Aug. 22, and request "U.S. Mail" delivery (allow 7 to 10 days). If you select "pick up," you will be notified when your permit is available (usually within 3 to 5 days). Commuting students: Please note that you cannot purchase a permit online or in person until our system is updated with your fall registration.

Online ordering is recommended, but here are all the options to apply:

1.     Order online (recommended)

2.     Fax your application: 650.724.8676

3.     Email your scanned application

4.     Apply in person or by mail: 340 Bonair Siding (Mail Code 7255), Stanford, CA 94305-7255

Our office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, except university holidays. For more information, contact us at 650.723.9362 or transportation@stanford.edu.

2) Apply for the Commute Club or renew your membership to receive up to $300 per year

Eligible commuters who refrain from renewing a long-term parking permit could receive a $100 bonus

Join Stanford’s Commute Club (it’s free!), and you could receive up to $300 per year by biking, carpooling, taking transit, vanpooling, and/or walking instead of driving alone. Current members, note that memberships must be renewed every year.

Do you normally purchase a parking permit? Consider joining the Commute Club and participating in our Permit Non-Renewal Promotion. By not renewing your long-term permit, you could receive $100, $75, $50, or $25 in addition to up to $300 from the Stanford Commute Club!

Need help planning a transit and/or bicycle commute? Try our do-it-yourself commute planning feature or request a custom commute plan from your front door to Stanford. Try our free ridematching service to find Stanford affiliates with whom you could carpool or vanpool.

Consider the many rewards of joining the Commute Club or renewing your free membership:

Whether you are joining or renewing, order online to enroll in the Commute Club for the 2014-15 academic year. Commuting students: Please note that you cannot enroll in the Commute Club online or in person until our system is updated with your fall registration.

Although online ordering is recommended, you have the following options to apply for the Commute Club:

1.     Order online (recommended)

2.     Fax your application: 650.724.8676

3.     Email your scanned application

4.     In person or mail: 340 Bonair Siding (Mail Code 7255), Stanford, CA 94305-7255

We are glad to answer questions and help you discover a better commute! Contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu.

3) Commuting graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, consider Caltrain instead of a permit

Save by purchasing a Caltrain Go Pass and joining the Commute Club

Purchasing a 2014-15 annual parking permit will cost $900 for an ‘A’ permit or $348 for a ‘C’ permit. If you are an eligible graduate student or postdoctoral scholar, consider how much you could save by not purchasing a parking permit and purchasing a 2014 Caltrain Go Pass for $55 instead. The cost of the Go Pass could be offset with Clean Air Cash of up to $100, which you could receive by joining the Commute Club for the remainder of 2014.

Your local address and enrollment status must be reflected in the P&TS customer database, which is updated through Axess and requires two to three days to reflect changes. Once you complete these steps, look for more information in late August about purchasing the Go Pass starting Sept. 2.

For more information, refer to our Pilot Go Pass web page, which includes Frequently Asked Questions, or send an email to pilotgopass@stanford.edu.

4) Did you forget to enroll in the Commute Club for the current academic year?

Last chance for retroactive Clean Air Cash for 2013-14; must be requested by Aug. 22

Did you forget to enroll in the Commute Club last September, even though you were eligible during 2013-14? If so, please note that enrollment for the Commute Club can be processed only within the same academic year. This means you must apply by Friday, Aug, 22, to request retroactive Commute Club enrollment for all or part of the current academic year (September 2013 through August 2014).

If you are unsure about your membership, visit My Commute Club to check your membership status.

If you are not currently enrolled and want to request retroactive Clean Air Cash and other rewards for this academic year, you must use a paper application (PDF) and submit it by Friday, Aug. 22. You have several options to submit your application:

1.     Scan and send it via email

2.     Fax it to 650.724.8676

3.     Submit it in person at 340 Bonair Siding

If you currently are enrolled in the Commute Club and would like to request retroactive Clean Air Cash for previous months in which you should have been enrolled, please send an email by Friday, Aug. 22, to commuteclub@stanford.edu. Let us know which previous months during this academic year you were eligible and request that we add those months to your membership. To check your membership status and months of enrollment, visit My Commute Club.

If you have questions, please contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu.

1 It is important for Parking & Transportation Services to communicate parking and alternative-transportation information to the campus. Under the 2000 General Use Permit (campus growth plan approved by Santa Clara County), the campus has a goal of "no net new peak-hour commute trips" over the life of the permit and must accommodate campus growth with a limited number of new parking spaces. Failure to achieve this goal will result in the university being faced with costly mitigation measures.
