3) New parking payment options make visitor parking more convenient

The Parkmobile app allows visitors to pay for parking using mobile devices

P&TS has teamed up with Parkmobile to make paying for visitor parking on campus easier. Visitors can now use the Parkmobile app or mobile website to pay using a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express) at metered, pay-and-display and pay-by-space parking locations. In addition to the visitor parking fee, Parkmobile charges 35 cents for each transaction.

Using Parkmobile, you can opt to receive a mobile phone notification 15 minutes before your parking session is set to expire. If you haven’t exceeded the maximum time limit of the space where you are parked, you have the option to extend your parking through the app or by calling 877.727.5718. The toll-free number is posted on the meter or pay machine.

Not all visitor spaces are equipped to accept Parkmobile payments at this time, so look for the green Parkmobile sticker posted on the parking meter or pay machine.

Other visitor parking payment options: In addition to Parkmobile, visitors have the option of paying at coin-operated meters and pay machines, or purchasing one-day visitor “scratcher” permits in advance at P&TS. For more information about these options, along with parking locations and time limits, visit the P&TS Visitor Parking page.

Alternative transportation for visitors: Visitors also have the option of using alternative transportation and requesting custom transit and/or bicycle trip planning assistance. If you are planning events at Stanford, please support the university's General Use Permit (GUP) goals by considering what you can do to avoid generating peak-hour trips on campus.

For questions about visitor parking, contact parkingoperations@stanford.edu. For questions about alternative transportation or trip planning assistance, contact commuteclub@stanford.edu.

1 It is important for Parking & Transportation Services to communicate parking and alternative-transportation information to the campus. Under the 2000 General Use Permit (campus growth plan approved by Santa Clara County), the campus has a goal of "no net new peak-hour commute trips" over the life of the permit and must accommodate campus growth with a limited number of new parking spaces. Failure to achieve this goal will result in the university being faced with costly mitigation measures.
