fox mirror forest
an original work by Rebecca Chaleff and Rebecca Ormiston
“We need the books that affect us like a disaster, that grieve us deeply, like the death of someone we loved more than ourselves, like being banished into forests far from everyone, like a suicide. A book must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us.” — Franz Kafka
about the production
Part immersive theater and part dance, fox mirror forest is a devised site-specific play inspired by Rosemary Minard’s 1975 collection, Womenfolk and Fairy Tales. The piece is an imaginative comedy that asks the audience to consider how folk tales affect and shape our perceptions of self, illness, others, and the world.
fox mirror forest performs at dusk in Stanford's Frost Amphitheater, a beautiful and woodsy outdoor venue rarely open to the public. Hot beverages will be provided, and we encourage you to dress for the weather.
