Course Approval System (A-22)

Information about the adult education course development and approval process, including a listing of courses approved for statewide use.

Adult education programs develop outlines for new or revised courses and make them available to the California Department of Education (CDE) for approval. To receive apportionment, all courses must be approved by the CDE.

The CDE reviews the request to determine whether the course is approvable. Within 20 working days of receiving the request, the CDE will provide electronic certification of course approval or notify the requesting party that approval cannot be given, the reasons why, and instructions regarding additional information that is needed to approve the courses.

This system is comprised of the elements listed below. The elements work together to provide informational support to the adult education field with respect to course development and approval.

This is an online process by which adult schools request approval of courses from the CDE Adult Education Office. It is password-protected and users will need an ID and password to add, delete, or submit courses.
