CHECK IN: All entries should arrive to their staging area no later than 9:30 am. One adult MUST check-in with staff at the check-in table on Emerson St. close to University (in front of Sam’s Chowder House) to pick up your entry number and buttons. Please be sure to have someone hold up your group’s staging number so the parade announcers can see who is coming. At present, there are 5 announcing stations: University/Emerson, University/Florence, University/Webster, Hamilton/Webster and Webster/Homer.

PARKING: Parking will be available at City Hall or anywhere outside of the staging area and parade route. We recommend parking in the Parking garage (Lot R) on High St. or Parking garage (Lot S) on Bryant @ Lytton Ave.

RESTROOMS: Restrooms are located at both parking garages above. There will also be portables  at Lytton Plaza and in Lot O on Emerson St. next to the Aquarius Theater.

FLOATS: If you have a float, please drop it off at the Palo Alto Weekly Float Area on Emerson near University Avenue by 8:15 a.m. Please enter Emerson via Lytton Avenue. Floats will be judged at 8:30! Immediately after judging, you will need to move your float to your designated staging area. Your group is responsible for dismantling and disposing of your float at the end of the parade.  No giveaways (including candy) are allowed along the parade route.

PARADE ROUTE: The May Fete Parade starts at 10 a.m. – rain or shine! The parade will travel down University Avenue, turn right onto Webster, turn right onto Homer and end at Heritage Park. Regular entries (without floats) will enter into Heritage Park; there will be someone there to guide you. Float entries will turn left onto Waverley and park between Homer and Channing. All Palo Alto bands will enter Heritage Park and proceed to the stage area where you will be introduced and play one song for the May Fete Fair.

END OF PARADE: Due to the numbers involved with the parade, there will be a large crowd of people in the Waverley/Homer area as the parade disperses. Therefore, it is very important to designate a meeting place prior to the parade. Following the parade, stick around for the May Fete Fair, sponsored by Palo Alto Recreation Foundation and Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto until 1pm. See website for info on this Fair. http://pamayfetefair.com/ The Museum of American Heritage will also be having a Vintage Car Show right across the street from the park.

SPECIAL NOTES: Since this is a children’s parade, we ask that you keep the number of marching adults to a minimum and encourage parents to watch the parade along the route and cheer on all the participants. Adults are encouraged to dress in the spirit of the parade.
