2014 COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program (CAMP)

The COPS Office is pleased to have announced the award of 10 FY 2014 COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program (CAMP) grants for approximately $6 million.

In 2014, through the CAMP program, COPS made 10 awards in the amount of $6,036,266 FY 2014 to advance public safety by providing funds to investigate illicit activities related to the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine. CAMP provides funding directly to state law enforcement agencies in states with high seizures of precursor chemicals, finished methamphetamine, laboratories, and laboratory dump seizures for the purpose of locating and investigating illicit activities, including precursor diversion, laboratories, and methamphetamine traffickers.


2014 COPS Hiring Program (CHP)

The COPS Office is pleased to announce the awarding of 215 FY 2014 COPS Hiring Program (CHP) grants for approximately $123 million.

In FY 2014, the COPS Office focused on four priority areas for additional consideration:

Homeland Security:

To include protecting critical infrastructures, information/intelligence problems, and other homeland security problems.

Homicide/Gun Violence:

The COPS Office supports the Attorney General's priority goal of reducing violent crime, especially if it is gun related.

School-Based Policing through SROs:

Applicants that requested officer position(s) in order to deploy SROs must deploy all their officer positions as SROs. Moreover, if awarded CHP funding, CHP grantees who chose this specific community policing problem area will not be allowed to change it post-award. CHP grantees who use CHP funding to deploy SROs will also be required to submit to the COPS Office the contact information for each school partner where they intend to deploy the SROs, and to provide a Memorandum of Understanding between the CHP grantee and the school partner. Trust Problems:

To include issues of fairness and impartiality, transparency problems, respect problems, and other trust-related problems.


2014 Community Policing Development (CPD)

The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) is proud to announce awards totaling more than $6 million under the Community Policing Development (CPD) award program.

The Community Policing Development program supports innovative community policing strategies, applied research, guidebooks, and best practices. For 2014, the program funded projects related to a number of public safety topic areas, including:

The Community Policing Development solicitation was open to all public government agencies, for-profit and nonprofit institutions, universities, community groups, and faith-based organizations. Accepted proposals were designed to innovatively advance the field, were cost effective in their approach, and demonstrated an understanding of the principles of community policing and the law enforcement audience.


2014 Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation (CTAS)

In 2014, through the CTAS program, COPS made 74 awards in the amount of $27,060,888.00 to Tribes or Tribal consortia to support the hiring and equipment and training needs of Tribal jurisdictions. Under CTAS, the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) offered funding through Purpose Area #1: Tribal Resources Grant Program (TRGP) Hiring and Equipment/Training. Purpose Area #1 is designed to expand the implementation of community policing and meet the most serious needs of law enforcement in Tribal Nations through a broadened comprehensive program. The funding can be used to hire or re-hire career law enforcement officers and Village Public Safety Officers as well as procure basic equipment and training to assist in the initiation or enhancement of Tribal community policing efforts.

Tribal Law Enforcement Community Policing Resources

The COPS Office is pleased to announce the availability of a variety of training opportunities specifically for recipients of the COPS Tribal Resources Grant Program (TRGP) and the tribal community. The COPS Office provides training and technical assistance (TTA) to implement and enhance justice system efforts, particularly in the Tribal law enforcement field.
