Modeling, Testing, and Research

This web page provides links to transportation and air quality information related to estimating, testing for, and measuring emissions, as well as research being conducted on technologies for reducing emissions.

Modeling and Inventories provides information on Office of Transportation and Air Quality models for estimating air emissions from on-road and nonroad mobile sources, including work on new and innovative means of estimating these emissions.

Testing and Measuring Emissions provides information on vehicle and fuel testing at the National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory which is of interest to manufacturers and other members of the emissions testing community.  Topics covered include:  test procedures, laboratory techniques, emissions measurement and analysis, and cooperative research and development agreements.

Clean Automotive Technology contains information about the Office of Transportation and Air Quality (OTAQ) research in advanced technologies for reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiency in vehicles.

Fuel Cells EPA, DaimlerChrysler and UPS, are collaborating to put several zero-emission package delivery vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells into commercial service in Michigan.  The Initiative will provide an opportunity to test state-of-the-art fuel cell vehicle technologies in real world operation.  Learn more about the Initiative at www.epa.gov/fuelcell.

Mobile Source Emission Factors Research summarizes and analyzes the particulate matter (PM) data from Kansas City PM Characterization Study conducted in 2004 and 2005. It supplements the Eastern Research Group contractor report to EPA, which describes the details of the study and provides some preliminary results.
