The International Year of Pulses (IYP) Regional Dialogue for Europe and Central Asia
The IYP Regional Dialogue (RD) for Europe and Central Asia is part of a series of regional dialogues to enhance local and regional discussions on the important role of pulses that FAO is organizing.
The IYP Regional Dialogue for Europe and Central Asia will take place at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, from 12 to 13 October 2016, under the title: “Nutritious seeds for a sustainable future”
The objectives of the Regional Dialogue are to:
- Understand/Document the “state-of-the-art” on pulses in the Region in terms of opportunities and challenges, including existing policy environment
- Agree on common priorities for advocacy and promotion of pulses in the Region.
- Identify knowledge gaps and research needs
In order to ensure focused and productive discussions, participants are expected to have an expertise and/or an active interest in the above outlined issues, which should preferably be connected with their everyday work.
The outcomes of this Dialogue, along with the others IYP dialogues, will provide regional overviews of the opportunities, challenges, existing policy environment supporting/hindering the promotion of pulses. In addition, the above-mentioned outcomes will be addressed in the IYP Global Dialogue, which will be held in FAO Hq at the end of 2016.
