In a hotly contested match from start to finish, No. 8 George Washington edged the No. 7 Cardinal, 5-4, to wrap up Stanford's 2014-15 home slate.
Freshman Sarah Bell continued her strong rookie campaign with the Cardinal (3-3) by winning at No. 2. After losing the first game 11-3, Bell rattled off three consecutive set victories to defeat Breanne Flynn. Junior Sarah Haig also won in four games at the No. 4 spot, making it a clean sweep for Stanford's two Sarahs.
Freshman Tatyanna Dadabbo and senior Alex Yorke also contributed individual victories. Playing at the No. 7 spot, Dadabbo won the first two games against Emely Levyn and then hung on for the win in the fifth after Levyn fought back. Yorke dominated throughout her match to pick up a clean sweep at No. 9.
Stanford hosted its first two home matches of the season on Saturday, falling to No. 3 Penn and defeating No. 15 Bates. The Cardinal will finish its season with road trips to Yale, Brown and Harvard before the CSA National Championships in mid-February.
