No. 10 Stanford picked up a big road win for the first time this season, topping No. 11 Brown on Saturday in Providence, Rhode Island, but also dropped matches to No. 5 Princeton and No. 3 Harvard to fall to 4-9 at the end of the regular season.
In its win at Brown, the Cardinal received stellar performances from the top and bottom of its lineup. CC Ho, Sarah Bell and Christie Huchro won at Nos. 1, 2 and 3, respectively, and Ariel Posner and Julia Olson finished off the win at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively.
Olson won two of her three matches over the weekend, including a clutch four-game win at No. 9 in the win at Brown. Olson also provided the only Cardinal victory at Harvard, winning in four games again at No. 9 in Stanford's 8-1 defeat. Princeton defeated the Cardinal 9-0.
Huchro really battled for her win at No. 3 in the victory against Brown. The freshman won the opening game 11-6, but fell in the painfully tight second and third games to be put on the brink. Huchro closed out Hannah Hay-Smith from Brown with an 11-8 fourth game and then a dominant 11-3 closer.
Posner had a strong weekend at No. 8. The senior symobolic systems major won in three games against Brown's Isabel Pitaro on Saturday and then took Harvard's Caroline Monrad to five games in a tight loss on Sunday.
This weekend's matches marked the end of the 2015 regular season for the Cardinal. Stanford returns to the Farm to prepare for the 2015 CSA National Championships, which begin on Feb. 14 in Cambridge, Mass.
