INDIANAPOLIS – Stanford freshman Sandra Ortellado and alumna Mariya Koroleva were part of the national teams that will compete at the Pan American Games and FINA World Championships this summer USA Synchro announced Friday.

The Pan American Games will be held July 10-26 in Toronto. The FINA World Championships is scheduled for Aug. 5-16 in Kazan, Russia.

Both were part of a group of nine swimmers selected for the U.S. team that will compete at the Pan American Games and they were each also on the list of 11 swimmers tabbed for the FINA World Championships. The U.S. duet that will compete at the Pan Am Games will be announced later this month while the duet that will compete at the FINA World Championships will be announced shortly before the event.

The swimmers for the national teams were selected following trials in Moraga, Calif. The 2015 U.S. Pan American Synchronized Swimming Team is subject to approval by the United States Olympic Committee.

A 2015 All-American, Ortellado helped Stanford to a third-place finish at the U.S. Collegiate Championships in Columbus, Ohio in late March. Ortellado, along with Clare McGovern and Erica Slavin placed fourth in trio finals (84.7000) and Ortellado and McGoven came in third in duet finals (85.5000). Stanford’s team score of 86.8667 in team routine finals was only behind Ohio State’s 87.7667.

A four-time All-American while at Stanford, Koroleva led the Cardinal to the 2013 national championship in her senior season. She was a member of U.S. teams that won silver medals in the duet and team competitions at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Koroleva and Mary Killman qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London in the duet event.
