STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford men’s gymnast Brian Knott was named a Capital One Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Team District 8 selection, as announced Thursday by the organization.
Knott is one of three Stanford representatives on the men’s all-district team, joining water polo’s Bret Bonanni and golf’s Maverick McNealy. The trio are now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Knott - an electrical engineering major with a 3.67 GPA - won the NCAA title on parallel bars and earned two All-American honors on parallel bars and pommel horse at the 2015 NCAA Championships. Knott excelled in the classroom and was recognized as an MPSF All-Academic selection for the third consecutive year. He was admitted to Stanford’s wireless communications lab and was the first author on a research paper that was published at the 2015 International Conference on Communications in London.
