STANFORD, Calif. - Both Stanford tennis teams were honored with multiple selections to their respective 2015 Pac-12 All-Academic teams on Wednesday, as announced by Commissioner Larry Scott.

To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. Freshmen are not eligible for consideration.

The men's team was represented with seven honorees. John Morrissey (3.64 – International Relations), Robert Stineman (3.73 – Chemistry) and Trey Strobel (3.69 – Management Science and Engineering) earned spots on the first team. Maciek Romanowicz (3.68 – Economics) and Anthony Tsodikov (3.69 – Economics) were named to the second team. Yale Goldberg and Nolan Paige were recognized among the honorable mention picks.

Six members of the women’s team earned accolades, led by Krista Hardebeck (3.75 – Political Science, Psychology), Lindsey Kostas (3.99 – Economics) and Ellen Tsay (3.87 – Biology) tabbed to the first team. Caroline Doyle (3.86 – Undeclared) and Carol Zhao (3.74 – Science, Technology and Society) were featured on the second team while Taylor Davidson was an honorable mention choice.

On the men’s side, Stanford (18-7, 6-1 Pac-12) enjoyed one of its best seasons in recent memory while displaying continued progress throughout the season. Making its 36th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance while showcasing a lineup that featured three freshmen, the Cardinal notched its first postseason victory since 2012 and clinched a share of the Pac-12 regular-season championship for the first time since 2010. Stanford also reached the Pac-12 Tournament for the first time in school history. The Cardinal was well represented among All-Pac-12 honors, with Tom Fawcett being named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and Paul Goldstein tabbed Pac-12 Coach of the Year. John Morrissey and David Wilczynski were also recognized. Morrissey and fellow senior Robert Stineman were also named ITA All-Americans in doubles.

The most storied program in women's college tennis, Stanford (18-6, 7-3 Pac-12) reached the NCAA quarterfinals for the sixth consecutive season. Seeded No. 14 in the NCAA Championships draw, Stanford upset No. 3 California in the round of 16 and has now won 10 of its last 12 NCAA duals when seeded lower than its opponent. The Cardinal, which placed fourth in the Pac-12 and was ranked between No. 7-14 in the country throughout the season, was seeking its third straight semifinal appearance. Four of Stanford’s six lineup regulars – Taylor Davidson, Caroline Doyle, Ellen Tsay and Carol Zhao – were named ITA All-Americans. Zhao was the NCAA Singles Championship runner-up, falling one step short of becoming Stanford’s first champion since Nicole Gibbs in 2013.
