STANFORD, Calif. – The 2015 Pocock Lightweight All-America Team has been announced with three Stanford seniors helping fill out the nine member team.
Coxswain Jordan Duval-Smith, four seat Bailey Yuro and two seat Mackenzie Crist from the IRA National Champion varsity eight were all selected to the All-America squad.
This is the fifth time in the last six years Stanford has placed three individuals on the All-America team and eighth straight season they have had multiple selections.
The three seniors guided the eight to a time of 6:34.018 in the Grand Final to give the Cardinal its fifth title in six years. It also helped Stanford take home the first team trophy given out to lightweights at the IRA National Championships.
Duval-Smith becomes the third Cardinal rower to be tabbed an All-American three times, joining Gretchen Stumhofer (2009-11) and Liz Fenje (2011-13). She is the first coxswain to do so. The communication major was also placed on the team after leading the varsity eight to national titles in both 2012 and 2013.
For Crist and Yuro it is the first All-America honor for the seniors. Crist, an art practice major, has been in the varsity eight all four years and owns three national titles. Yuro, a human biology major, raced with the varsity eight each of the last three years, winning two titles.
Stanford now has 22 All-America selections since they started handing them out in 2007.
