STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford grew stronger Monday when it added Nicole Hoffman to the roster for the 2015-16 season, as announced by head coach Kristen Smyth.

Hoffman makes the cross-country trip from New York where she trained at Galaxy Gymnastics in Orangeburg, N.Y., under the direction of coaches Jamie Winkler, Sasha Miretsky, Serguei Petrouniak and Galina Petrouniak.

"We are excited that Nicole is joining our SWG family,” said Smyth. “She is athletic and competitive and should contribute on beam and floor. She attended our summer camps and has proven herself to be hard working and passionate about the sport."

Hoffman boasts a number of athletic accomplishments including the 2013 New York State beam championship, 2013 regional championships in the all-around and floor, and a sixth-place finish on floor at the 2013 Junior Olympic Nationals. She earned the floor regional championship in 2012 and finished seventh on floor at the 2012 Junior Olympic Nationals.

Hoffman excelled in the classroom as well and graduated from Byram Hills High School with cum laude honors. She earned the Bryant University Book Award for Entrepreneurship for High School Students, is a member of the Spanish and Italian Honor Society, and is a Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society member.

A two-sport star, Hoffman also played soccer and was a two-time All-New-York State selection, including first team recognition in 2013. She captained her team and helped lead her squad to a 2013 sectional championship.

Hoffman joins previous NLI signees Dare Maxwell, Hailee Hoffman and Taryn Fitzgerald who previously committed to Stanford.

The quartet joins a Stanford team that returned to the NCAA Championships for the 12th time in the past 15 years, six gymnasts combined for nine All-America honors and the Cardinal finished fifth at the NCAA Championships with a 197.250 – the team’s second-highest score ever at an NCAA Championships competition.

Stanford is one of seven teams in the nation to make at least seven Super Six appearances in the past 14 years (2002-15).
