STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's swimming and diving program was a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
The Cardinal ranked 18th nationally with a 3.36 team grade-point average, the best of any team in the Pac-12 Conference. Stanford was sixth at the 2015 NCAA Championships and boasted the highest GPA of any program that finished in the top-10.
Nearly 70 pct. of all NCAA swimming and diving programs earned GPA's of 3.0 or higher during the spring, including 83 pct. of all Division I schools.
The announcement came after the NCAA report on the Academic Progress Rate (APR) of Division I sports. That report showed that Division I men's and women's swimming and diving teams posted the second highest APR among those sports with fifty or more teams.
Even more, 15 Cardinal student-athletes were named to the CSCAA's Scholar All-America team. That accolade was dealt to Bradley Christensen, Christian Brown, David Nolan, Gray Umbach, Jeff Garnier, Liam Egan, Max Williamson, Ryan Arata, Thomas Stephens, Christopher Pickard (honorable mention), Daniel Le (honorable mention), James Yoder (honorable mention), Justin Buck (honorable mention), Sean Duggan (honorable mention) and Tarek Abdelghany (honorable mention).
