Conference Play Begins

STANFORD, Calif. – No. 6 Stanford looks to extend its six-game winning streak Friday when it opens conference play against California at 1:30 p.m. (PT) at the Varsity Turf.

Since its opening-day loss to No. 4 Syracuse in overtime, Stanford (6-1) has reeled off six-straight wins, including victories against No. 5 Duke and No. 15 Iowa.

Stanford embarked on its first road trip of the season this past week to Iowa City, Iowa. The Cardinal defeated the Hawkeyes on Thursday, followed by a convincing 7-0 win against Saint Louis and a 4-2 win over 2014 NCAA Tournament team Kent State.

Stanford has won 16 of its past 20 matchups against Cal (4-3) including the past seven. The last matchup between the two schools came October 24th, 2014, with the Cardinal winning 4-0. Maddie Secco and Lauren Becker chipped in a goal apiece.

Secco leads the Cardinal in goals (5) and points (12), while Becker leads the team in assists (4) and shots (17, tied with Fran Tew on the season). Dulcie Davies, the reigning America East Defensive Player of the Week, has made 47 saves on the season and ranks 10th in the nation with a 1.46 goals-against average and 4th with a .855 save percentage.
