USTA/ITA Northwest Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. - For the ninth straight season, Taube Family Tennis Stadium will serve as the host site for the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships when play gets underway Friday.

Representing Stanford in both singles and doubles are: junior Taylor Davidson, junior Caroline Doyle, senior Krista Hardebeck, senior Lindsey Kostas, freshman Caroline Lampl, freshman Melissa Lord, freshman Naomie Rosenberg, sophomore Paulette Wolak, freshman Elizabeth Yao and freshman Kimberly Yee.

In addition to Stanford, the ITA's Northwest Region schools are comprised of the following: California, Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon, Pacific, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle, UC Davis, Washington and Washington State.

Junior Carol Zhao captured her first career singles title at last year’s event, becoming the fifth consecutive Cardinal player to claim the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional crown following Kristie Ahn (2013, 2010), Krista Hardebeck (2012) and Nicole Gibbs (2011). Zhao defeated Davidson in the all-Stanford championship match while the juniors teamed up in doubles to reach the semifinals.

Friday’s action begins at 10 a.m. with the first two rounds of singles and the opening slate of doubles. The competition continues Saturday with two more rounds on both sides with the quarterfinals set for Sunday. Semifinals for singles and doubles are contested Monday, before the championship matches on Tuesday.
