STANFORD, Calif. - Taylor Davidson will play for a pair of titles on Tuesday morning at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
Davidson, who defeated Washington’s Tami Grende 6-3, 6-3 on Monday in the semifinals, will square off against Fresno State’s Mayar Ahmed on Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT.
Davidson is looking to become the sixth consecutive Cardinal player to claim the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional crown, following Carol Zhao (2014), Kristie Ahn (2013, 2010), Krista Hardebeck (2012) and Nicole Gibbs (2011). Davidson reached last year’s final before falling to Zhao in an all-Stanford affair.
In doubles, Davidson will team with Caroline Doyle in Tuesday’s final against California’s Klara Fabikova and Olivia Hauger at 12 p.m. (or after suitable rest).
In addition to Stanford, the ITA's Northwest Region schools are comprised of the following: California, Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Oregon, Pacific, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle, UC Davis, Washington and Washington State.
