STANFORD, Calif. – Jordan Burgess, a senior outside hitter on the seventh-ranked Stanford women’s volleyball team, has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII first team, as announced by the College of Sports Information Directors of America today.

Burgess earned first-team accolades for the second straight season and will appear on the ballot for 2015 Academic All-America honors.

Burgess is a human biology major at Stanford with a 3.62 GPA. She has also been named a top-10 finalist for the Senior CLASS Award this season. Last year, she was named to the Academic All-America second team and is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention pick. Burgess is one of four Pac-12 players on the District VII first team.

The Fort Myers, Florida native is averaging 1.99 kills and 1.77 digs per set this season. In 2014, she became just the ninth Cardinal player to record 1,000 career kills and digs. She is currently eighth all-time at Stanford with 1,245 career digs.

No. 7 Stanford plays at Oregon, Thursday, in its first of four straight road matches. The Cardinal and Ducks will square-off at 8 p.m. PT on ESPNU.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant contributor with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for her career and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing.
