STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford senior women's volleyball player Jordan Burgess has been named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America today.

The Fort Myers, Florida native was recognized as one of the top players in the nation for her efforts both on the court and in the classroom. Burgess is a two-time honoree earning second team accolades in 2014 as well.

Burgess is a human biology major at Stanford with a 3.62 GPA. She has also been named a top-10 finalist for the Senior CLASS Award this season. A two-time CoSIDA All-District VIII first team member, she is a three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection.

A two-time All-American and three-time All-Pac-12 Conference pick, Burgess averaged 2.70 kills, 2.84 digs and 3.09 points per set for her career. In 2014, she became just the ninth Cardinal player to record 1,000 career kills and digs. She finishes sixth all-time on Stanford’s career digs list with 1,320.

Burgess becomes the program's 11th Academic All-American last season and brings the Cardinal’s total award count to 18. Past winners include Susan Compton (1984), Deidra Dvorak (1984), Kim Oden (1984), Terri Bryson (1985), Kristin Folkl (1996, 1997), Ogonna Nnamani (2002, 2003, 2004), Cynthia Barboza (2007, 2008), Alix Klineman (2009, 2010), Cassidy Lichtman(2010) and Stephanie Browne (2010, 2011).

To be eligible for the national team, a student-athlete had to have been selected to its District's first team. Initial nomination criteria at the District level includes being a starter or key reserve, maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, reaching sophomore athletic and academic standing at the current institution and be nominated by their sports information director.
