STANFORD, Calif. – When Stanford graduated six starters and seven players in 2014, including its top three scorers, the Cardinal faced plenty of questions entering the 2015 season.

Most notably, who would fill the starting positions and where would the scoring come from?

The Cardinal answered these questions quickly with the emergence of the freshman class and a balanced attack.

Stanford consistently started four freshmen and six earned regular playing time. The Cardinal had 12 different players score at least one goal and five players tied for the team lead with five goals apiece.

Four of Stanford’s top-five goal-scorers were underclassmen and the group accounted for 29 of Stanford’s 43 goals.

A year after being the unanimous conference and national freshman of the year, Andi Sullivan continued to establish herself as one of the best two-way midfield players in the country. She earned the first NSCAA First-Team All-America honor of her career and was named one of 15 semifinalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy. Sullivan was the only Pac-12 representative on the All-America first team and one of two underclassmen on the first team.

Stanford continued to produce one of the nation’s top defenses, generating 12 shutouts and limiting opponents to 13 goals in 23 games for a 0.55 GAA. Goalkeeper Jane Campbell earned 10 shutouts to increase her career total to 30 – good for fourth on Stanford’s all-time list and just five behind Nicole Barnhart (2000-04) for the most in program history. Campbell was named the Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year.

Freshman Alana Cook stepped into one of two center back positions and quickly made her case as one of the top freshmen in the nation. She was named the Pac-12 Freshman/Newcomer of the Year, marking the second consecutive season a Cardinal player has earned the award.

Five Stanford players earned NSCAA All-Pacific Region honors, eight earned All-Pac-12 recognition and nine claimed Pac-12 All-Academic accolades. Head coach Paul Ratcliffe earned NSCAA Pacific Region Coach of the Year recognition and the sixth Pac-12 Coach of the Year award of his career.

Stanford made its 25th NCAA Tournament appearance and 18th consecutive. The Cardinal earned one of four No. 1 seeds and extended its postseason home unbeaten streak to 29 matches.

Stanford earned its 10th Pac-12 title and went unbeaten in conference play with a 10-0-1 record. The Cardinal led the Pac-12 in goals scored with 24 in conference play and 35 overall. Stanford tied USC for the fewest goals allowed with 11 on the season.
