STANFORD, Calif. - Back in the Bay Area, the Stanford wrestling team has three duals on the schedule for this weekend. First up, the Cardinal hosts Cal Baptist on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion. Admission is free.
Stanford will wrestle at San Francisco State and Menlo College on Sunday, Jan. 10. The Cardinal and Gators square off at 3 p.m. PT at The Swamp at The Don Nasser Family Plaza in San Francisco. Stanford will then head south to face Oaks at 6 p.m. PT in Atherton, California.
Stanford placed ninth as a team at the Southern Scuffle, led by freshman Joey McKenna's runner-up finish at 141 pounds. Redshirt freshman Paul Fox (149 pounds) and redshirt sophomore Nathan Butler (285 pounds) took seventh, while redshirt sophomores Connor Schram (125 pounds) and Garet Krohn (184 pounds) came in eighth.
McKenna became just the second Cardinal wrestler to reach the finals at the Southern Scuffle, joining three-time All-American Tanner Gardner who did so in 2006. The Towaco, New Jersey native is 11-1 on the season and ranked second nationally in all of the major polls.
Fox leads the Cardinal in wins this season with 20, while Butler has 14 and redshirt junior Jim Wilson has notched 12. Redshirt sophomore Keaton Subjeck (174 pounds) has tallied seven falls to pace Stanford, while Butler has recorded six. For a full list of Cardinal results click here.
