ATHERTON, Calif. - In its second dual of the day, the 18th-ranked Stanford wrestling team dominated Menlo College, 42-6, Sunday at Haynes-Prim Pavilion in Atherton, California.
Stanford spotted Menlo six points, forfeiting at 125 pounds. Junior Eric Cramer picked up his first win of the season, an 8-2 decision over Logan Eaton at 133 pounds, to cut the Oaks' lead to 6-3.
Redshirt junior Peter Russo put the Cardinal on top after he pinned Christian Racimo in 2:30. He is now 9-3 on the year and 2-0 in duals.
Tommy Pawelski pushed the Cardinal lead to 13-6 with a 16-4 major decision over Jeff Uyesaka at 149 pounds. The redshirt sophomore scored six takedowns, a reversal and riding time in the win.
Walker Dempsey moved to 3-6 on the season with a 13-3 major decision over James Luscombe at 157 pounds. He notched four takedowns, two nearfall points, an escape, a stalling point and riding time in the win.
Redshirt junior Jim Wilson, ranked 13th nationally, then pinned Joseph Jauregui in 2:01, increasing the Cardinal lead to 23-6. It marked his fourth fall of the season.
Redshirt junior Peter Galli recorded a 16-0 technical fall over Stone Escobedo at 184 pounds. It marks his first technical fall of the season, making the team score 28-6.
Redshirt junior Zach Nevills also registered a technical fall, defeating Nick Karis 18-2 at 184 pounds. It was his second tech fall of the day.
Redshirt senior Michael Sojka notched his second win of the day with a 7-2 decision over Erick Parsons at 197 pounds. Redshirt sophomore Nathan Butler capped off the scoring with a fall in 54 seconds over Brady Rivera at heavyweight.
Up next, Stanford hosts Utah Valley on Friday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. and Duke on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. Both duals will be held in Burnham Pavilion and admission in free.
