Swimming Heads South

STANFORD, Calif. - After a weekend sweep to begin 2016, the second-ranked Stanford women's swimming and diving team travels South to Los Angeles for a televised matchup with No. 19 UCLA on the Pac-12 Network on Friday at 2 p.m. On Saturday, the Cardinal will visit No. 7 USC at noon.

On Friday, the Bruins are hosting their Breast Cancer Awareness meet and will wear pink caps. Stanford will also have pink and black caps for the event. Proceeds from admission and t-shirt sales will benefit UCLA's Women's Health Center. Diving events begin at 1 p.m., and the Pac-12 Network broadcast will begin with the swimming events at 2 p.m.



About No. 18 UCLA/No. 5 USC - UCLA (6-1, 3-1 Pac-12) is fresh off a pair of dual wins over Boise State and Utah in Salt Lake City on Jan. 16. The Trojans are 6-1 overall this season and 4-0 in Pac-12 duals. USC, which has not defeated Stanford since 1996, swept Arizona and Arizona State and most recently defeated Wisconsin at home on Jan. 12.  

Previous Matchups - Last season, Stanford topped UCLA, 151-92, behind Lia Neal, Kassidy Cook and Ally Howe, who each won multiple events. The following day, the Cardinal defeated USC, 182-110, with 13 wins in 16 events on Senior Day at Avery Aquatic Center.

Last Time Out - Last weekend, the Cardinal (4-0, 4-0 Pac-12) swept Arizona State and No. 7 Arizona in the first meet of 2016 at Avery Aquatic Center. Freshman Ella Eastin won two events in a 176-63 victory over the Sun Devils, while sophomore Janet Hut earned three individual titles to lead the Cardinal past the Wildcats, 181-114.
