NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Stanford women’s golf team climbed into a tie for seventh place on Monday after two rounds of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at English Turn Golf and Country Club.

The third-ranked Cardinal posted a four-player score of 5-over-par 293 and has a 36-hole score of 13-over 589. Florida leads the 17-team tournament with a 7-under score of 569.

For the second consecutive day, Stanford was sparked by senior All-Americans Lauren Kim and Mariah Stackhouse. Kim maintained her lead in the individual competition by shooting a 2-under 70 and has a two-day of total of 6-under 138, one stroke ahead of Emma Talley of Alabama. Kim’s round was highlighted by an eagle at the 340-yard par-4 ninth, where she holed out her approach shot for eagle.

“Coach (Anne Walker, Mitch and Margot Milias Director of Women’s Golf) and I have been working on my attitude, outlook and overall mental game, and I think I have a better grasp than I normally do,” said Kim. “I’ve also putted well.”

Stackhouse followed up a first-round 69 with a 72 and is tied for fourth at 3-under 141. Her round included three birdies and three bogeys.

Sophomore Shannon Aubert is tied for 61st at 9-over 153 (78-75). Junior Casey Danielson is tied for 77th at 13-over 157 (81-76), while junior Quirine Eijkenboom is tied for 86th at 21-over 165 (81-84).

Final round play begins Tuesday with an 8 a.m. EST shotgun start, as Kim chases her first collegiate title.

“I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing,” she said. “I don’t think there’s much I can change. I’ll try to play my most consistent golf and hopefully come out on top.”
