USC, UCLA Come to Taube

STANFORD, Calif. – Coming off a three-match losing streak, the No. 39 Stanford  has an opportunity to land two signature victories, hosting No. 13 USC on Friday (3 p.m. PT) and No. 4 UCLA on Saturday (1 p.m. PT) at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

Stanford’s (5-4) biggest win of the season is a 7-0 sweep of No. 38 San Diego State, but the Cardinal is winless in three attempts against top-30 opponents. Last season against the Trojans and Bruins, the Cardinal pulled off back-to-back 4-3 wins at Taube.

The Cardinal boasts six nationally-ranked players in singles, led by Tom Fawcett (4) and David Wilczynski (48). Joining the rankedl for the Cardinal are Sameer Kumar (88), Nolan Paige (102), Michael Genender (112) and Maciek Romanowicz (114).

Fawcett has been dominant on the season, with a flawless 8-0 record in the No. 1 spot in dual play, including a win over the then-fourth ranked Andre Goransson of Cal last weekend. On the year Fawcett has amassed a record of 14-2 while riding an eight match win streak. Versus nationally-ranked opponents Fawcett is currently 11-2 on the year.

Paige and Romanowicz comprise the only ranked doubles team, checking in at No. 48 thanks to a 4-1 record at the No. 1 spot.
