STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford’s Akash Modi was named the College Gymnastics Association Gymnast of the Week for the fourth time this year, as announced by the organization Friday. The honor is Modi’s 14th of his career, increasing his lead as the all-time leader in NCAA Division I Gymnast of the Week honors.

Modi posted another phenomenal all-around last weekend for the Cardinal, collecting his fourth all-around title with a score of 90.850 to help propel Stanford to a first place finish at the International Collegiate Challenge. Stanford posted a 444.600 score to best No. 9 California, Finland, Canada and reigning World Champions Japan.

Modi has earned 14 individual event victories against NCAA teams this season: all-around (4), parallel bars (3), floor (3), pommel horse (2) and high bar (2).

With his 14 honors, Modi leads the all-time list of Division I CGA Gymnast of the Week awards, besting Jake Dalton of Oklahoma and Sam Mikulak of Michigan, who each have nine.

Stanford and Modi will look to keep their momentum going on Saturday, March 5 where the Cardinal will travel to face the top-ranked and defending NCAA Champions, Oklahoma in a showdown of the nation’s best. Meet time is set for 5 p.m. PT in Norman, Okla.
