STANFORD, Calif. - No. 20 Stanford cruised past No. 65 Utah 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in the 17th annual Spring Smash presented by Zoom Marketing at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Stanford (9-4, 4-1 Pac-12) swept both of its conference opponents this weekend and recorded its fifth shutout in the process.
Utah (10-8, 1-5 Pac-12) dropped its fifth in a row after a five-match winning streak.
The Cardinal captured the doubles point for a 1-0 lead, surrendering only two games combined in victories at the bottom two spots.
Krista Hardebeck delivered a 6-2, 6-1 victory on court four, extending her winning streak to 10 overall and increasing Stanford’s lead to 2-0.
Taylor Davidson followed with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at the No. 2 position, putting the Cardinal on the verge of clinching.
Caroline Lampl made it official with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the No. 5 spot before Caroline Doyle, Carol Zhao and Kimberly Yee rounded out the shutout.
