STANFORD, Calif. – Six different Cardinal scored goals as the third-ranked Stanford women's water polo team defeated No. 6 Arizona State, 8-5, Saturday at the Avery Aquatic Center.

Stanford (16-2, 2-0 MPSF) held a 4-1 lead at the half, getting goals from senior Gupreet Sohi, freshmen Madison Berggren and Kat Klass, and junior Sophia Monaghan. Abbey Kerth scored the lone goal for the Sun Devils (14-5, 1-2 MPSF) in the first half.

The Cardinal extended its lead to 7-2 in the third quarter as Sohi scored again and sophomore Shannon Cleary notched two.

Arizona State made a late push in the fourth quarter, out scoring Stanford 3-1, but it wasn't enough to catch the Cardinal off guard. Junior Jamie Neushul capped off the Stanford scoring. Redshirt sophomore goalie Julia Hermann made 11 saves in the contest.

Up next, Stanford continues MPSF play on the road at No. 24 CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, April 2.
