STANFORD, Calif. – Nine Stanford women’s gymnasts earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors, as announced by the conference Wednesday.

Honorable mention honorees include Rachel Daum, Pauline Hanset (environmental engineering), Ivana Hong (human biology), Taylor Rice (international relations), Haley Spector and Kristina Vaculik (human biology).

It is the second consecutive first team honor for Frowein who holds a 3.94 GPA as an architectural design major. She has been a consistent contributor on floor throughout the season, competing in nine of 11 meets.

It is Wing’s second all-academic award of her career and first as a member of the first team. The senior product design major in the school of engineering holds a 3.72 GPA. She earned second team recognition in 2014. Wing has provided big scores and stability as the leadoff performer on bars and beam in all 11 meets this season.

Jenna Frowein and Rebecca Wing present final projects during the Fall Quarter.

Shapiro claimed her third honor in as many years, also receiving recognition in 2014 (second team) and 2013 (honorable mention). Hanset and Vaculik earned Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention awards for the third consecutive year, while Rice earned her second consecutive honor.

Daum and Spector received the first all-academic honors of their careers, both being named to the honorable mention team.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

Stanford will compete this weekend at the NCAA Morgantown Regional and pursue a spot at the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, April 17-19.

The Cardinal (10-9-1, 8-7 Pac-12) will look to earn its sixth regional title and qualify to the NCAA Championships for the eighth time in the past nine years. Stanford competed at the NCAA Morgantown Regional once before in 2010, when it scored 196.775 to finish first and claim the Cardinal’s most recent regional title.
