Fetal Cardiology
The heart is the first organ to develop in your unborn baby, and is the most important to his or her lifetime of health. We’re here to help understand exactly how your baby’s heart is growing, and to partner with you, your obstetrician and a diverse care team to support your baby’s unique needs before, during and after birth. Our Fetal Cardiology program works in collaboration with our Center for Pregnancy and Maternal Health, which means fetal cardiologists are with you every step of the way—throughout pregnancy, delivery, and recovery—supporting your child’s heart health, or preparing your child for life-changing treatment.
We use the most advanced technology to monitor your developing baby—including fetal echocardiograms and fetal MRIs for evaluation—which reduces risk while minimizing time spent in the hospital. Our fetal cardiologists are internationally recognized for their expertise in echocardiography—a low-impact imaging technique that allows us to detect fetal heart problems as early as 14 weeks gestation. Early detection helps us achieve the best outcome for your baby. As you prepare for delivery, an interdisciplinary team of pediatric cardiologists, heart surgeons, high-risk obstetricians, neonatologists, and genetic counselors, will partner with you and your obstetrician to ensure you and your new baby start strong, and get exactly the care and support you need.
