Coming off of a personal best in the Penn State National, senior Claudia Saunders will compete again in the women’s 800 at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday. She hopes to improve on her previous time of 2:04:43. Given her strong performance two weeks ago, Saunders is expected to qualify for the NCAA Championships in March. Junior Malika Waschmann will also be competing in the 800. She bested her outdoor personal record by two seconds while coming in fifth at Penn State, and she is sure to perform strongly on Saturday. Meanwhile, sophomore Harrison Williams, Stanford’s decathlon record holder and last meet’s men’s heptathlon winner, will not be competing in any multi-sport events before the NCAAs. After record-breaking performances in their last meet, both the Stanford men’s and women’s track and field teams are set for a strong showing this weekend.
