VTA on Heightened Alert After Brussels Attacks

Safety and security is our top priority at VTA. In response to the March 22 terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium, public safety authorities throughout Santa Clara County are on heightened alert for any potential threats in Santa Clara County. This includes the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department Transit Patrol, which provides security for the entire VTA system.
The national See Something, Say Something campaign encourages all of our employees and passengers to report suspicious circumstances, objects or people to authorities immediately. The VTAlert mobile app allows passengers to do so discretely by text message which goes directly to emergency responders.
In addition, all front-line VTA employees recently received “All Hazards” training which prepares them to report information about suspicious situations and provide helpful information for authorities.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the events in Brussels which occurred early this morning, resulting in deaths and serious injuries after a series of bomb blasts at the international airport in Brussels as well as a nearby subway station. We are in close consultation with our federal intelligence partners, including the Department of Homeland Security, to monitor this situation.
Please stay vigilant and remember if you see something, say something.
