The Buck/Cardinal Club provides funding for many student-athlete support areas, one example being sports medicine. Inky Ajanaku, ’16, and Cal Quantrill, ’17, were two of the many student-athletes to sustain an injury last year and embark on their recovery. “Not many student-athletes go through their collegiate athletic experience without being affected by sports medicine,” says Ajanaku. The impact is more than physical. Quantrill says, “One of the most important parts of the mental recovery is having people around you that remind you, ‘you will be good again.’” Stanford Sports Medicine manages more than 6,000 physical therapy appointments annually and evaluates over 300 student-athletes daily to ensure the optimal health and performance of all student-athletes.
