Dr. and Mrs. C. J. Huang Teaching Fellowship

Deadline:
Sunday, December 20, 2015

The Huang Teaching Fellowship allows students to teach in rural China for one year with the possibility of extending the experience one additional year. The fellowship is open to both graduates and alumni and provides roundtrip airfare, health insurance, year-round language tutoring, comprehensive training before arrival at the school (cross-cultural, TESL, Chinese language instruction), $1,000 readjustment allowance, year-round home office and field support, travel to the annual conference in China, and $1,000 in funding for a public service project. Preference is given to applicants with at least two years work experience.

This fellowship is offered by Volunteers in Asia (VIA) with staff support from the Haas Center. Applicants not granted the Huang Teaching Fellowship may be considered for other VIA or Haas Center programs.

The Dr. and Mrs. C.J. Huang Teaching Fellowship was established in 2001, as one of Dr. and Mrs. Huang’s efforts to support Asia-related issues and education both in the United States and China. Fellows teach at the Ouyang Yu Middle School in Hunan Province, an experimental school founded by Dr. C.J. Huang in 1986.

Please note that Haas Center staff do not necessarily have direct experience with, nor do we professionally endorse, partner organizations.
