Malgorzata's role in the library
As an Archivist, I am part of the team that arranges, describes, preserves and makes available manuscripts and other archival materials, both as intellectual items and as historical artifacts, to support the research needs of students, faculty and other scholars at Stanford University and beyond. Materials collected span disciplines across the humanities, social sciences and sciences and include objects, audio-visual and born-digital materials, in addition to manuscripts.
Professional activities
I have attended the biannual conference, Loex of the West for many years, and I also enjoyed attending the American College of Research Libraries conference, either physically or virtually. I now plan to become involved in the Society of American Archivists (SAA).
I have been asked to speak about information literacy at conferences or educational institutions in California, New York and Sweden.
More about Malgorzata
In 2014, I celebrated 25 years of working in the Stanford Libraries. I began working with the Curator for Slavic and East European Collections, utlizing some of my foreign language skills. After ten years, I moved to reference and instruction, eventually becoming Head of the Information Center and subsequently Head of Information Delivery.
After obtaining my library degree, I spent two years in Poland on a Fulbright Grant, followed by six years experience as Production Manager at a fast-paced advertising agency, learning skills that I have drawn on in the library profession.
