Stanford OHS is an innovative, independent, secondary school like no other. We offer academically talented, highly motivated students in grades 7–12 challenging courses and a vibrant community. We conduct our courses online in real time (synchronously), which allows students from around the world to interact with their teachers and with each other in seminar-style classes. We combine the academic rigor of a selective liberal arts college with the intellectual nurturing necessary for adolescents. Stanford OHS offers more accelerated, AP, and university-level courses than just about any other high school.
At Stanford OHS, it’s not all about classrooms. Students use technology to participate in assemblies, homeroom, college counseling, extra-curricular clubs, and activities such as robotics, debate, student government, and the yearbook. Our distinctive, multi-year Core Sequence combines several fields of study to help students’ analytical skills, argumentation, and critical thinking. In addition, we offer extensive academic and college-preparatory advising. Students can enroll full-time or part-time, and have access to many of the resources of Stanford University at their fingertips.
Our teachers are also different from what you’re used to. Roughly two-thirds of Stanford OHS instructors hold doctoral degrees in their disciplines. Many are former university professors. They bring not only a high level of expertise to the classroom, but also a passion for teaching. Instead of skimming along the content surface, we plunge deeply into the topics of each course.
