Accessible and Affordable

Sophomore College reflects Stanford’s commitment to undergraduate education. Through the generosity of Stanford donors, all participating students receive an $800 scholarship, reducing the program fee from $1,400 to $600.  Transcripts are not included in the review process; selection into the program is based solely on the application essay.

  • The program fee for participation in Sophomore College is $600 and will be included in your university bill after you register for the class.  The fee covers tuition, room, board, books, and class-required travel arranged by the program.
  • Note:  Students are responsible for travel to campus (or the location for off-campus seminars that do not begin on campus ), phone, network activation fees, class project materials, and other personal expenses.

  • Financial assistance is available to help defray the $600 program fee;  please indicate your request to be considered for financial assistance on your application. SoCo financial assistance is applied directly to the program fee and is not available to be used for other personal expenses or travel as described above.
  • The Financial Aid Office will determine eligibility. Financial need will have no bearing on course applications. (Please note: We may not be able to consider financial assistance requests received after the confirmation date.  See Application Important Dates.)
