At Stanford, in order to accommodate the needs/interest learning Vietnamese, we offer the language trainings at all levels ranging from Elementary (First Year); Intermediate (Second Year); Advanced (Third Year), to Directed Reading – or one-on-one learning classes. People

For the last two decades, Stanford has counted on expertise of two instructors of the Vietnamese language. The previous instructor was Prof. Ha Mai Phuong who was a son of one of the most influential, respected author in Vietnam, the late scholar Ha Mai Anh. The current instructor is Dzuong Nguyen who was born in Hanoi but was raised and educated in Saigon. Dzuong Nguyen who has an immense knowledge of the Vietnamese culture and language, is now teaching Vietnamese at De Anza College, College of Alameda and at Stanford University.
