Since joining the A³C staff in 1991, Cindy has worked with faculty, staff and alumni to build community and to create programming and opportunities that support students in their academic and co-curricular endeavors. Cindy works with students on programming, leadership development, and advising and collaborates with campus partners to ensure that the needs of students are met. Cindy also serves on various University committees. Cindy is a longtime Alameda resident who graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Math. Prior to coming to Stanford, she spent time in New York working as a speechwriter for David N. Dinkins who became the first African American Mayor in New York City.
Jerald joined the A³C staff in 2012 and works closely with the A³C student staff to coordinate center programs and major events. He also collaborates with staff in other university departments to develop joint programs to bring awareness of campus resources to students and serves as an advisor to the many student groups that identify with the center. Jerald is from San Diego, CA but grew up throughout Southern California and received a BA in English Education and a MS in Higher Education from the California State University. Prior to coming to Stanford, he worked in student leadership development, multicultural education, and Greek affairs in Southern California and worked with Fraternity & Sorority Life and the Row in Residential Education here at Stanford.
Calvin Miaw ’03, has returned to Stanford as a second year PhD candidate in Modern Thought and Literature and his research interests are U.S. social movements and political thought. He has joined the A3C staff as our Graduate Student in Residence for Undergraduate Research. Calvin’s role will be to serve as a mentor and coach to undergraduates to support and encourage undergraduate research. He is available for one-on-one advising and to assist with all aspects of research and fellowship applications.
From the Chappell Lougee application to Haas Summer Fellowships, Calvin is available to help with everything from framing a research question to writing the grant or fellowship application. Calvin was an undergraduate at Stanford and is very familiar with all the funding opportunities and resources. If you are interested in getting funded for summer projects or independent research come talk to Calvin.

Why you joined the A³C: As a sophomore, I joined the A3C to learn about various issues affecting the API community and to become a better advocate for our community. As a junior, I continue to be involved in the A3C for the same reasons, but I also want to uplift student voices and engage in transformative work that addresses concerns of the the API community on campus.
